What to Expect

Before Your Session

We work together to plan a session that feels personal to you. We’ll explore ideas together—whether you want to stay home in your cozy space, explore your neighborhood, or build the session around an activity you love. We’ll provide guidance on what to wear, timing, and on how to get your family excited for the session so you’re confident and prepared. It’s collaborative—you tell us what feels right, we help make it happen.

During Your Session

Our sessions are relaxed and flexible. We move at your pace, exploring different spots and moments as we go. Partners, siblings, and fur friends are always welcome—we love when the whole family is part of the story. We give guidance when it’s helpful (where to stand, what to do with your hands), but mainly we just let you be yourselves and capture what happens. The experience should feel natural and fun.

After Your Session

You’ll receive your gallery of professionally edited images within 2-3 weeks. Then comes the part a lot of photographers skip: helping you actually do something with these photos. We’ll walk you through what works as wall art, recommend sizes and locations that fit your home, suggest what to send grandparents, and we can help you design albums. The goal is for these photos to live in your home and your family’s life.

Most people feel awkward at first—that’s totally normal. But we’ve been doing this for 15+ years and we’re really good at making it feel natural. We’ll guide you gently, give you things to do with your hands, move you around so you’re not just standing there staring at the camera. Five minutes in, you’ll forget we’re even photographing. Promise.

Yes! Lots of families book both at once—we even have a special package for it. We’ll schedule your maternity session for 28-32 weeks, then once baby arrives, we’ll find a time in their first 2 months for newborn photos. It’s up to you when—the first few weeks, baby’s sleepier (those curled-up newborn poses), while later they’re more alert and you’ll see their personality emerging. Booking together means you’re already on our calendar and don’t have to think about it later when you’re sleep-deprived.

Absolutely. Each pregnancy is different, each kid deserves their own origin story, and your body is doing something extraordinary again. Plus, if you have older siblings, these photos capture their anticipation too—hands on your belly, getting ready to be a big brother or sister. It’s a different chapter, and it’s worth documenting.

We’ve been photographing NYC families for 15+ years, so we know the city inside out. We love home sessions—your apartment, your nursery, your everyday spaces. We also love building sessions around activities (bodega runs, flower markets, food trucks). As a family business with kids of our own, we bring playfulness and creativity to every session. And we don’t end with sending your online gallery—we help you actually use your photos with print guidance, album design, and wall art recommendations.

Between 28-32 weeks is ideal—your bump is beautifully round, but you’re still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session. If you’re expecting multiples or have specific timing needs, we can adjust.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable and beautiful and shows your belly—flowy dresses, fitted outfits, neutrals, bold colors. We have resources to help: a Pinterest board with tons of inspiration and a detailed What to Wear guide with color combinations, textures, and real examples. Plus, we’ll give you personalized guidance on what photographs well at your stage of pregnancy. And if you want photos celebrating your changing body more fully with your bare belly or minimal clothing, we love those too!
